Pre-school Developmental Assessment
A holistic assessment to better understand your child’s development and identify the right support
As a parent or carer, you may have concerns about your preschool child’s development but unsure what those concerns mean or what support might help.
Perhaps you have noticed differences in your child’s communication, social interaction, play, physical development, sensory processing or everyday skills. You may also have concerns raised by your child’s nursery or preschool.
Our TCT Pre-school Developmental Assessment provides a detailed, holistic view of your child’s development through a joined-up approach from our experienced multi agency assessment team.
We consider the whole picture - including your child’s communication, social interaction, play, physical development, sensory processing and everyday skills - and, where appropriate, work alongside parents, early years settings and other professionals involved with your child.
Why choose a holistic assessment?
Children’s development does not always fit neatly into one area. Bringing together different professional perspectives can help build a clearer understanding of your child’s strengths, needs and development, and identify the most appropriate support.
Our experienced multi agency assessment team considers the wider picture, bringing together information from your child, your family, their nursery or preschool and other professionals where appropriate.
If, following Step 1, our team feels that no additional support is needed at that time, we may offer a review and check in with your family within 12 weeks to make sure nothing has changed.
A three-step pathway
The TCT Pre-school Developmental Assessment begins with Step 1, which is available to preschool children of any age. Following Step 1, your child may be offered Step 2 and, where appropriate, Step 3 if further assessment is indicated.
Please note: Steps 2 and 3 are available to children aged 3 years and over who regularly attend a nursery or preschool setting.
Not every child will need all three steps. The team will review the information gathered during Step 1 and discuss the most appropriate next steps with you.
