Zones of Regulation Support

The ‘Zones of Regulation’ is a programme that can be used as part of an approach to support a young person to begin to recognise and regulate their emotions. The Zones of Regulation organises our feelings, states of alertness and energy levels into 4 different coloured zones. The simple, common language and visual structure makes the complex skill of regulation more concrete for learners and adults alike.

It is suitable for all learners from age 4 up to adults who struggle with emotional regulation but can be particularly useful to those with sensory processing challenges, individuals with ASD or ADHD diagnosis/traits and those struggling with anxiety or anger.

The Zones of Regulation Service is delivered by Helen Riggs. Helen has over 20 years’ experience as an ASD therapist and level 3, Specialist Teaching Assistant with a specialist interest in speech and language support.
Helen has a background of working in schools using the concepts of Zones of Regulation and she has recently updated her knowledge and skills by completing the new 2024 version of the Zones of Regulation training.

Please find full details of the Zones of Regulation service in the brochure below.
Exam Access Arrangements

Exam Access Arrangements (EAAs) are the reasonable adjustments that can be made for a student/exam candidate. These may include extra time, permission to use assistive technology, scribe, rest breaks or practical assistance.

The service is available for secondary schools to assist children and young people with SEN. The Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) who oversee EAA for GCSE and A-Level qualifications, and requires that the process of determining EAA is carried out in collaboration between the school/college and specialist assessor.

It is delivered by Sarah Alderson, a qualified EAA assessor with a Level 7 Postgraduate Award of Proficiency in Assessment for Access Arrangements. Sarah can undertake standardised assessments which meet JCQ requirements, work with schools and colleges to complete part 2 of Form 8, and advise on any relevant and appropriate EAA.

Full details of our EAA service are outlined in the brochure below.
6 for 6

We often hear from school and teachers that they have students who are struggling with messy, illegible, slow and/or a dislike of handwriting. 6 for 6 is designed for school to recommend for parents and students but also lends itself really well to running as a group within school.
Its clear easy to follow format gives the school all it needs to implement the programme and show a before and after result. Not only will this benefit the students but the ‘evidence’ produced can also be used when planning any SEN, onward referrals or additional input for students.
The programme is designed to achieve other wins too! So why not join into and not only see the improvement in your student handwriting but feel the benefits of becoming stronger and fitter too!
SEMH Support Service for Preschools & Primary Schools

Do you have children who:
-
Find it hard to regulate in school
-
Have separation anxiety from parents
-
Have difficulty understanding setting rules or routines
-
Consistently need some extra support to access the curriculum
-
Need support with how to play.
We are aware that settings are currently struggling to access timely intervention and face to face contact with professionals to help with supporting the children in their care. We are therefore offering the opportunity for you to buy in support from our experienced team.
We can offer support in a number of ways – but it will always provide a systemic look at a child in order to gain a broader knowledge of their experiences and their responses to these experiences.

Post-Diagnosis Support for Schools

A neurodivergent diagnosis can bring both clarity and new challenges for students, teachers, and support staff. Understanding a child or young person's needs allows schools to create a more inclusive learning environment.

After a diagnosis, schools play a vital role in helping students navigate learning, social interactions, and emotional well-being. Small adaptations within the classroom can make a significant difference in their success. Supporting neurodivergent students isn’t just about providing strategies for them—it’s also about equipping educators with the knowledge and tools to foster an inclusive and supportive space.

This service helps schools understand the impact of a diagnosis, recognise individual strengths and challenges, and implement effective strategies to support neurodivergent learners. Every student is unique, and our approach is tailored to their specific needs.
